PHOTO: Investigators from LPD’s Traffic & Safety division and the County this morning are continuing to try and reconstruct the scene where a 12 year old boy was killed Friday night. Police have closed off South Clover from Ocean Avenue to Cedarbridge Avenue.
The 12 year old boy was walking home at about 10:45 PM Friday night when he was struck and killed by a vehicle, which fled the scene.
It’s unknown when the road will be reopened. TLS-CCP.
They WILL find him/her!
It is most likely someone local. Clover is not such a common road and the average outsider would not be aware that it links rt. 88 with Cedarbridge.
Such a sad story, how can anyone leave the scene of an accident where they hit someone with their car???
BDE ; We need to wear our reflectors people ! Every little bit helps. No excuses . . .
My Bf is the one that called 911 because when he rode by he heard someone hell yo help so he slowed down but then kept going because that area is a dangerous area and at night it’s scary so he called 911 and said someone i think may need help as he didn’t know what happened. he already spoke to lpd and gave them as much info as he could. he thinks it was a pick up truck with a bed on the back going in the direction of that area around the time he passed by being a red or dark brown color. I hope they catch the person and bring them to justice! R.i.p. Edward
very simple if its not the drivers fault and pd charges the driver as it was his fault so why should he hang around ??
Its just sad. How can someone just keep going and not stop, when I heard the news my heart dropped. I drive that road almost every day, now I will find another way to go. Its just sad I tell you
my best friend is neibors wit edwardo….i really feel 4 lupe and the other children lpd have 2 catch the person that did this i seen that little innocent child layin on the side of the road blood on the ground…..(moderated) rest in peace edward
please put more of me up in this town so this doesnt happen again
thank you
To Traffic light- No matter how many of you go up you can not prevent this from happening. This happened in the middle of a street not near an intersection, the street lights in the area are out and were being repaired, unfortunately the company doing the repairs can not be everywhere all day and night long. I don’t think Lakewood needs you at every intersection, it will only make getting through this town unbelievably slow.
1) sidewalks
2) lighting
3) driving slower
4) more speeding tickets
etc….
enough already! a working street light in that area may have helped but not a traffic light! learn to drive decently and we wont need traffic lights!
no stop sign ,traffic light, yield sign or any other traffic control can replace good driving habits !!!!!
It doesn’t matter if the child was wearing reflectors, the driver would still have responded in the same fashion, by driving away. When this person fled the scene, they have forfeited any type of benefit of the doubt.
NOTE to any driver who hits a person, and drives away: If you stay around, and call for help, the pedestrian may have a greater fighting chance to survive. By driving away, you are delaying every precious moment that can be the difference between life, and death. What could have been considered assault, is now escalated to manslaughter.
