What is the BiG Campaign? BiG stands for
Building Infrastructure for Growth. It’s no secret that Lakewood is experiencing unprecedented growth.
Thirty seven years ago, Lakewood was a small town. A small group of volunteers saw a need, and formed a small organization known as Hatzolah. Now, Lakewood is no longer small, and this small group of volunteers has grown into over 100 members, responding to over 8000 calls each year with a budget of millions of dollars. And, our community is growing at record speed. With expansion into Toms River, Jackson, Brick and Howell our once small community is now BiG! In order for Hatzolah to continue its critical lifesaving work, it has to expand, upgrade and equip itself. Hatzolah needs to Build Infrastructure for Growth and in order to do so, we need each one of you to do something BiG!
Besides for the regular operating costs, Hatzolah desperately needs a new communications system to reach the new areas we’ve never had to respond to before. Hatzolah needs new ambulances, paramedic vehicles, lifepaks, and more equipment to keep up with the expansion. Over the next year alone, this will amount to an additional $2 million needed.
Something BiG Is Happening In Our Community
Many of us have been there. A medical emergency is a frightening time for any family. Seeing your child gasping for air or finding a parent unresponsive, is harrowing. Nothing is more calming or reassuring at those times in our lives r”l than the arrival of dedicated, caring and compassionate Hatzolah volunteers. Their professionalism, respect and expertise literally save lives every single day. Any of us in this situation would do whatever we can to say thank you and show our appreciation to the devoted members of Hatzolah.
Together, Let’s Do Something BiG
The BiG Campaign is our chance to show our appreciation for those members in our neighborhoods, on our blocks, in our shuls or at work. Remember, these are the members we bring our children to, to assess if a cut needs stitches, or if a baby’s fever is something to be concerned about. These are the homes where we knock on the door, at 3:00 AM when we need help. These are the members that we count on to keep us safe. Let’s show our appreciation to them in a BiG way!

(Hatzolah had an amazing appreciation event for the members on Sunday evening in Bell Works. TLS will be bringing you exclusive complete photo and video coverage over the next few days.)
