It will be only about another week before the Inspection Department ends the warning period for downtown parking violations and they begin issuing summonses, Inspection Department director Mike Saccamano tells TLS.
The Inspection Department was recently enabled to issue summonses downtown as part of the Township Committee’s implementation of several new ordinances to improve parking for the downtown. However, the Department gave a 30-day warning period before they would begin issuing actual tickets.
The fines could be issued in Municipal Parking lots and in any other downtown zones which offer timed parking. The enforcement officers will not patrol for double parking or similar parking violations.
The downtown area is between Route 9 and Lexington Avenue, and between 5th Street and Main Street, Saccamano says.
The fine for the parking violation is $20, and does not hold a court appearance. TLS.

still cheaper than parking in NYC!!!
I work in the free clinic on 2nd st. I wonder if the great Mr Saccomanno will drive me to my office from the lot 3 blocks away?
What kind off offenses?
What are the actual rules and where will they be enforced, also time period 7 days or only on weekends and holidays. Thanks… It might be better to shop elsewhere sorry to say.
about time
but will they ticket double parking if they see it?
Thank you for the warning period. Much appreciated.
Cheap enough so that people don’t fight the fine regardless of innocence. Watch out.
Why is this being handlers by the inspection dept aren’t they funded by the permits. So who is funding this to have 2 employees driving around just to give tickets wow
(moderated)
There’s a 10% discount if you mention TLS…Also, if you pre-pay for 5 tickets in advance, there’s an additional discount. Group and family discounts available.
~~~~ Just saw this on another (secret) forum.
To the person who “works at the free clinic on 2nd street”. There is a TOWNSHIP parking lot right next door to the clinic. Just because someone from the clinic puts up signs in the morning that its private parking lot doesn’t make it so.
yes free clinic and there is street parking on Monmouth ave, as well as Second, and a lot behind on Lexington. Stop crying, being a health care worker you can smoke while you walk to work
This rule is funny. For the avg shopper 2 hrs is enough time to spend downtown. For the avg employee, its nowhere near enough. So, um, where r the employees s’pposed to park. And, like a prev poster said, this will just discourage anyone who has more than 2 hrs of shopping, to shop downtown. I’ll still go there , tho, just togoto heimishe bakeshop & Cali Swirls. YUM !! rg3 db4
VERY STRANGE , there are some other issues that the inspection dept should worry about before getting involved in parking issues
bring the parking meters back.
Gelbstein’s will be giving a free black. & white with every ticket you bring to the front counter (limit 2 per person) while supplies last.
I fight all tickets given by the inspection dept you can call my office any time or meet me by j2.
Thanks for your business.
Free black/white cookie with every ticket (limit 2 per family) while supplies last.
I remember when there was only horse and buggy’s here. It was from my best child hood memories. My dad came and sold fresh watermelons and cherries.
I would like to announce to my favorite community Lakewood as a inspection worker you people are amazing I have never seen such unity in my life since I got this job 21/2 years ago. And I will try my hardest to work with you guys on this new issue.
Where can I go to get enabled to do this? I think there are more building summons to be given out there than parking!
the township can earn $60.00 a day for fining the 3 tow trucks that are parked in front of the fire station on monmouth ave and first street where they block the view of cars turning right onto monmouth from first street going east let them not target shoppers who go shopping supporting the stores that inturn support the town let them go after the collission business who park illegally each and every day and no one says a word
I love how people are jumping up and down blaming the inspection dept. They are only following the directives of the township committee who instituted the ordinance. Look to your own Lakewood.
