Innovative Share and Care Campaign from Tiferes Devora L’Kallah

tdl[COMMUNICATED] Mazel Tov! Who’s the boy? What yeshiva did he go to? What’s his job? Who’s his sister?

One thousand questions start flying around the beaming new kallah, and she’s happy to answer each one in great length and detail, her flushed cheeks and shy smile sure signs of complete happiness. But her parents stand on the sidelines, and they, too, have one thousand questions flying around their minds. But theirs are of a different flavor:

How are you affording this? The hall, the caterer, the watch? How are you going to help the couple with rent? And how are you going to do this nine more times…?

And as the kallah’s smile grows bigger and bigger, her parent’s happiness is marred in doubt and worry.

That’s where Tiferes Devora l’Kallah steps in. Named for Mrs. Devorah Jurkanski, a”h, a woman known for bringing joy to everyone she met, Tiferes Devora L’Kallah strives to do the same for the hundreds of families whose lives it has touched. The founders of Tiferes Devorah L’Kallah were determined to create an organization that would dispel the daunting worries felt by so many families marrying off their children.

The organization has set up a showroom where kallahs can come and browse through a beautiful selection of merchandise where she can ultimately ”buy” the items of her choice for her new home. Not only are the prices incomparable, as each Kallah walks away with an abundance of “purchases” free of charge, courtesy of Tiferes Devorah l’Kallah, she also walks out with peace of mind and self respect.

Tiferes Devorah l’Kallah also has a special offer for families who are overwhelmed by the great expense of a wedding but do not wish to accept merchandise free of charge. They can instead purchase the items at low wholesale prices with the option of paying for them in installments.

Tdl 2What bigger zchus to offer to the Ribono shel olam, as Judgement Day approaches, then to become a part of such a program? What more can you hold out as an offering as your maasim are being weighed, than the menuchas hanefesh and dignity of a new couple, about to embark on the journey of life together? Rav Matisyahu Solomon, shlit”a, and yblc”t, Rebertzin Kanievski, along with many other gedolim, have given brachos in the past to all those who donate to help Kallahs set up their new homes.

Not only that, but Tiferes Devorah l’Kallah has come up with a wonderful and new program. It is called ‘Share and Care for Kallahs’, and it is a wonderful example of the zchus of acting both bein adam laMakom and bein adam lchaveiro. The program presents an opportunity for girls to not only gain zchusim for themselves, as they daven, but to also help fellow yidden in need.

Share and Care’s program truly portrays the sort of opportunity that is so needed before Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. The program is geared towards the prominent issue of the “shidduch crisis”, because while many kallahs pass through the doors of Tiferes Devorah l’Kallah, even more girls do not. There is a multitude of wonderful, frum bnos yisrael who are just waiting to step into the role of ikeres habyis. These girls date and search and wait, and yet the days drag into months and the months creep into years. The hope slowly fades from their once excited eyes and their enthusiasm follows. Their siddurim are stained with their heartfelt tefillos and their pillows are drenched with the weight of their loneliness.
Something needed to be done, hence the creation of Share and Care.

The first step is to “Share”. A girl can send in her tehillim name to Tiferes Devorah L’Kallah, and in response, they will then send her the name of a different single girl to daven for. She will thereby gain the koach of “kol hamispalel b’ad chaveiro vehu tzarich leoso daver…”

Step Two is the “Care”. Participants can donate $55, the numerical value of the Hebrew word ‘Kallah or $250, which equals $1 for each of the 250 kallahs TDL helps annually. Tiferes Devora l’Kallah has helped so many young families start off on the right foot this past year alone. Hopefully, with your help, they will not only help many more, but they will be the sheliach for simcha and bracha in the lives of bnos yisrael.
May all those still waiting find their bashert speedily.

  1. Wow. Great idea. What will HaGaon HoRav Chaim Shaul Shlit”a think of next ? Truthfully, tho, as I was reading this, I thought they were going a different route. I thought they would say, Share & Care. A single girl donates money for a particular Kallah, say $55, then the Kallah is given the donors’ name & then davens for her on the day of her chuppah, or , even, for $250-, under the chuppah !! How cool would that be ?! Then, of course, for $1055 they can put the donors name on the cards they put out by the chuppah & all the attendees can also daven for her. That would be awesome !! Ah guht yuhr to all.
