Infant Airlifted to Hospital with Severe Burns

airliftedVIDEO: A Lakewood infant was airlifted to the hospital this afternoon with severe burns, officials say.

The infant, a boy, received the burns at home after a hot item accidentally fell on him, officials say.

Hatzolah transported the infant to the Lakewood High School baseball field, from where a chopper airlifted him to Saint Barnabas Burn Center in stable condition.

  1. Isn’t quicker to drive? By the time they go in ambulance already, can’t they just drive to Burn Center, Transferring to Helicopter takes time also? I guess there’s a reason it’s up to Hatzolah to decide that.

  2. Saint Barnabas Burn Center is located in Livingston Essex County,it would not be quicker to drive there, time of day and traffic conditions are a factor. There are cases that helicopters can’t fly due to weather conditions and the patient is transported to an area hospital. The patient would be flown to the burn center when the weather conditions improve.
