VIDEO: The Yeshivah of Rabbi Riff Shlita, formerly known as the South Bend Yeshivah and currently in Indianapolis, Indiana, is looking to attract even more Bachurim from the Lakewood community. “The aim of the Yeshiva is to achieve academic excellence in the education of young Jewish men, implant the sacred values of our faith in their hearts and cultivate within them a true sense of responsibility to the Jewish people”, a Lakewood parent tells TLS.
In 2008, the yeshiva formerly known as the South Bend Yeshiva, officially relocated from South Bend to Indianapolis, Indiana.

“The Yeshiva of Rabbi Riff shlita” I believe that Rabbi Riff was nifter many years ago and the yeshiva is named after him (it should be Rabbi Riff zt”l) maybe you meant to write “the yeshiva of Rabbi Gettinger shlita”?
The ROSH YESHIVA in South Bend was HaRav Rephael Moshe Gettinger Shlita. The Rosh Yeshiva moved to Lakewood NJ about 2 years ago and opened a new bais medrash named Yeshiva Medrash Chaim. There is close to 100 alumni of the Rosh Yeshiva R’R.M. Shlita who live in Lakewood today and many have become Rabbanim, Mechanchim and true beni torah ablei batim after being in Kollel.
The original name of the South Bend yeshiva was “The Rabbi Naftali Riff Yeshiva”. The Rav of the only shul in South bend was Rabbi Yisroel Gettinger. He brought in his brother Harav Rephael Moshe Gettinger Shlita to be the Rosh Yeshiva when it originaly opened up with a Bais Medrash and then later a mesivta high school around 22-23 years ago.
About a year ago? Rabbi Yisroel Gettinger moved to Indinapolis IN and decided to take the name of the original south bend yehsiva and become the Rosh Yeshiva of the NEW Rabbi Naftali Riff Yeshiva in Indinapolis.
The Rebbeim of the Mesivta of the original yeshiva in South Bend (some being there already 20 years) stayed in South Bend and currently there is an active yeshiva including a Kollel and Bais Medrash.
Rav Yisroel always has a famous line when greeting students.
