[COMMUNICATED] With the growth of the yeshiva community of Lakewood, a parallel vibrant community has been growing in lockstep – that being the 55-and-over adult community. In recent years, this community has been growing by leaps and bounds, with many moving to Lakewood to be near their children and others simply wishing to take advantage of all the ruchnius and amenities that the ihr haTorah has to offer.
The numerous 55-and-up housing developments around Lakewood are now home to hundreds of frum couples, with many others taking up residence in other areas of town. This phenomenon has led to a need for new shiurim and regular gatherings for the adult community.
With this in mind, a group of askanim created an organization devoted to putting these types of events and learning opportunities in place.
The long-term plans of the organization are to create a full learning and recreation center for adults over 55, all located under one roof. The center will feature a beautiful bais medrash, as well as a gym and other amenities for both men and women and will be open to all Lakewood residents in this age group. Much work has already been expended to find the ideal location and to work out the other details for this project. Until then, events will be organized in various venues.
A “lunch & learn” program has been organized for women, with the inaugural Pre-Shavuos event to be held this coming Tuesday, May 11. Other programs for both men and women are being planned as well.
On May 11, the inaugural women’s event, which has been titled “Connections”, will be held in Eagle Ridge County Club. It is a z’chus for us that the Rosh Yeshiva Harav Uren Reich shlita, Rosh Yeshivas Ohr Zechariah will grace the event as the featured speaker.
The program will begin with a Meet & Greet Lunch at 1pm, followed by the speech at 2. Hostesses from many senior communities, including Enclave, Country Place, Pine River Village, Fairways and other neighborhoods around town, have banded together to make this an uplifting event and a large crowd is expected.

Kudos to Mrs Chani Stefansky and R Moshe Tress, this is their brainchild and part of a much larger planned project to benefit the retiree population.
