We are reiterating our previously issued no driving alert. As the storm intensifies numerous motorists have not heeded the warnings sent out. Our police officers are risking their own safety to respond to vehicles stuck in the snow, spin outs off of the road, and minor crashes. The vast majority of these drivers are not essential employees. Some of the drivers reasons given to us when we reach them are that they were getting coffee, cigarettes, pet food and …just wanted to see how bad it was. Please do not risk your health, our officers, or potential needless damage to your vehicle.
We need to keep these officers free to respond to the inevitable medical calls that will come in. Officers are utilizing 4 x 4 vehicles for police response but with snow drifts several feet deep in places; we run the risk of getting stuck ourselves on the side streets. Tying up these officers unnecessarily could conceivably cost lives. Throughout the day please stay home and allow the road crew’s unobstructed time to clear the roadways. Helping us will help you.
If you’re caught on the road today your car should be impounded for a week
Why only a week? At least 4 years!
There is NO driving restriction anywhere today, so no car can be impounded for driving.
FYI, there WAS a travel ban in 4 counties today, Ocean County was one of them.
Toms River has already plowed our street maybe 10 times already thank you !!!!!
