Our area is currently under a weather advisory until tomorrow late morning .
We are expecting copious amounts of rain as well as some very strong wind gust which may result in downed trees, tree limbs and power lines which may result in power outages.
Here are a few safety tips to consider:
– allow extra time for your errands so that you can drive responsibly
– use extra caution while walking or driving
– secure loose items around your home or business so they don’t turn into a projectile which can potentially damage property and/ or injure someone
– in the event of downed wires STAY FAR AWAY , until the appropriate agencies can render them safe even if they don’t look “active ”
– in the event of downed trees or tree limbs notify emergency services
– if wires fall on your vehicle STAY INSIDE THE VEHICLE until you are advised by emergency personnel that it’s safe to exit
– for those that are dependent on medical devices (I.e ventilators etc)please double check and ensure that your backup batteries are charged and accessible in the event of power outages
– ensure that you have sufficient supply of medications in the event that it’s difficult to get around town
– check on elderly neighbors to make sure that they are safe
– make sure your cellphones are fully charged
– now would be a great time to stop in at your mechanic to make sure that the treads on your tires are safe for winter driving and windshield wipers are working properly
Have a safe winter,
Hatzolah of Lakewood
Thank you!
