Important information from the LRRC Regarding Switching HMOs

The LRRC has provided TLS with the following important information to assist residents with the process of switching HMOs.

How do I switch HMOs?

To switch HMOs, call the State @ 1-800-701-0710. You should call this number to request the switch even if you receive your benefits from the County Office in Toms River. Please do not submit the request through their automated system – dial 0 to speak with a representative. We recommend calling back a day after you make the switch to confirm that the request went through.

How soon can I switch HMOs?

HMO change requests submitted by the 15th of the month are usually processed by the 1st of the following month.

Can each member of my family have their own HMO?

In most cases, the entire family must be on the same HMO, so make sure to check with all of your healthcare providers before making a switch.

Which HMO should I switch to?

Since each doctor’s network is unique, we cannot make a recommendation of which HMO is best for you. Speak with each of your healthcare providers and ask them which networks they participate with.

  1. I wish more people would reach out to the Case Workers at LRRC for advice. I learned the hard way. I followed advice from people in the Street and got messed up. When I realized that I was in a mess and reached out to the LRRC, they guided me and straightened things out for me. It would have saved me a lot of stress had I gone there in the first place.
