Important Announcement for Mosdos From General Counsel Michael Inzelbuch Regarding Food Boxes

General Counsel Michael Inzelbuch, Esq. today told TLS there is an important factor Mosdos need to be aware of regarding the food boxes for the summer.

“If your school operates a SSO (“Seamless Summer Option”) program during the summer, you can only serve meals for 5 days,” Inzelbuch said. If your school operates a SFSP (“Summer Food Service Program“) School program during the summer, you can serve meals for 7 days (an entire week)”

Regarding how the Lakewood School District is a SFSO, Inzelbuch stated, “Lakewood School District, thanks to the Superintendent, Board President Moshe Bender, and the entire Board, is an SFO program site, so we are serving meals for all 7 days.”

NOTE: If your school is a SSO, you can contact Tracii Butler, Department of Agriculture at 609-292-4498 to see if a change in your program’s classification to a SFSP can be arranged. According to Inzelbuch, “Tracii is a friend of ALL kids and is accessible and very knowledgeable. I have had the pleasure of dealing with her – truly refreshing.”

  1. I once spent close to 2 hours trying to find some food from a food service program that I misplaced.
Finally, a friend of mine approached me and told me: “If you want to find the food, you need to think ‘out of the box’.
So, I listened to him, and brought a sniffer dog to help me locate the food.
And wow! My friends “out of the box” advice worked like a charm! The dog located the food “in the box” where the food had been placed!
I’m fortunate to have a friend who is very quick in assessing the the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of any given situation.
