Some 13 people were killed and another 54 injured with illegal firearms in one NJ city alone last year, according to a report. Most of the shootings were drug or gang-related, but on at least two occasions, a young person was accidentally shot dead with an illegally obtained gun, the report said. New Jersey has some of the toughest gun laws in the country, but contradictory laws exist from state to state, and Interstate 95 and its connector highways have earned the name the “Iron Pipeline” as a popular gun smuggling route.
