Penniless American Unimpressed With Trump’s Penny Production Ban
Penniless American, Frank Nickelsburg, reacted with a mere shrug of the shoulder to the news that President Donald Trump has ordered a halt to the production of US pennies.
“I’m penniless,” Mr. Nicklesburg told ‘Wealth Builders’ Magazine on Monday, “I don’t have a penny to my name, except, perhaps, for a few pennies that might have found their way into my living room sofa. But I have no idea how to extract those pennies from my sofa, anyway.”
“That’s the story of my life,” he lamented, “my inherent inability to extract myself from life’s most dire, and senseless, situations!”
Mr. Nicklesburg added: “When I was a kid growing up, pennies were meaningful to me because I had an impressive coin collection with thousands of pennies. But sadly, my classmate, Wally Coppersmith borrowed the collection from me without my permission, and I never saw any of those pennies again.”
“Now you see it, now you don’t!” Mr. Nicklesburg lamented. “That’s the story of my life!”
“Trump’s ‘Penny Ban’ means absolutely nothing to a penniless man like me,” Mr. Nicklesburg said, “let him ban those delicious chocolate chip cookies that the Rebbetzin gives out for shalach monos every Purim, THEN I promise you, I’ll lambast Mr. Trump like there’s no tomorrow!”
“If Trump and the Musk DOGE team ban the Rebbeztin’s prized chocolate chip cookies,” Mr. Nicklesburg asserted, “I promise you, I’m out of here! I’m moving to Canada!”
“And then, if Trump ultimately turns Canada into the 51st state of the US,” he said, “I’ll move to Mexico….., and from Mexico to the Moon, if necessary!”
I just hope he doesnt abolish daylight savings time. Would really incovinience us frum yidden
I hope he does. Shabbos at a more normal time in the summer.
When will you daven Shacharis if you start work at 8 o’clock, and haneitz in the winter would be past 8:00 ?
That is if you would keep DST a whole year, Trump wants to abolish it, which means the winter will be as it was until now, but summer netz will be at 4:30AM and zman krias shma 7:30/8:05, zman tefilla around 9:30 and all those 9:00 shabbos morning minyanim will turn into 8:00 and 8:00 into 7:00, true shkiah will be earlier but its not worth everything else, you really cant sleep late this way.
NO. It was tried I believe in the 60’s. The Netz got very late. Crime in NYC during the morning school commutes got completely out of control.
There are enough pennies in circulation that it will likely be years or decades before pennies are entirely out.
the only change is that they will no longer mint new pennies for general circulation.
I’m pretty sure that they will still mint them for collector sets.
In just a few more years, the 1 cent penny will be sold at auction for a few thousand dollars, so start saving!!
@shmendrik HELLO! The netz gets earlier in the summer, until now was 5:23, if we keep the clocks back an hour like Trump wants to do then netz will be 4:23. What you are remembering is when they left the clock ahead an hour for the winter months when the latest netz is 7:20 and that year was 8:20 and it made alot of problems for working yidden.
The real purpose of the penny is to encourage me to exercise – picking up a penny on the ground for “good luck”.
