I Want To Live to Go To Cheder

[COMMUNICATED] The birth of a child should be a happy moment.

For Mr. and Mrs. Roten, however, happiness was mixed with fear and doubt. Their newborn son was rushed away for further inspection, and it was determined that he had a serious heart defect.

In the two years that have passed, little Shlomo has spent most of his life in the hospital. He has already had open heart surgery, and now requires a second. The surgeries, as well as his other treatments, have drained his parents of any finances they had.

The six other Roten children have learned to live without their mother and father, who are often by Shlomo’s bedside. The family, now racked by tremendous debt, are truly poor.

A gllimmer of hope, however, has emerged: Shlomo has been referred to a surgeon in America, who may be able to give him a normal future. The Roten family are unable to afford the costs of the travel and procedure.

Shlomo’s father, Eliyahu Roten, has opened an emotional fundraising campaign in hopes of saving his little boy’s life. For those scrolling past, it is perhaps another story of tragedy among many. For the Roten family, it is everything.
