  1. Just thinkin here, are you so not able to think for yourself? If the school is crazy enough to be open, will you be that crazy and send your kids out in this dangerous condition? Goes for going to shul too. All oficial (frum and otherwise) are staying stay off the road as there are live wires and fires because of it. Don’t we learn from others? The story in monsey last year of the child and the man who tried to save him and died too because of live wires.
Be smart, be responsible and stay in doors unless it is an emergency.

  2. The 50+ foot Silver Maple tree in my backyard just fell over. BH”Y, it fell away from our house and not on it. We thought we saw it’s 4 ft trunk moving in strong gusts around 5:30 pm, but we thought that with everything swaying around it, our eyes were just playing tricks on us. Then, at about 8:30 pm, there was a gust so strong, our house shook, and then a thud in the backyard. Using a flashlight, my son discovered the roots of the tree sticking up about 15 ft in the air. Thank you, Hashem, thank you.

Iy”h, I’ll submit photos in the morning.

  3. Tree down on vermont and caughlin st may have live wires be careful. There will be a 610 am and 8 am shacris minyin at R’Babad shul located at coughlin st

  4. VARIOUS RADIO STATIONS HAVE HAD OFFICIALS CALL IN FROM VARIOUS STATES SAYING THERE ARE SO MANY POWER LINES DOWN ON ALL KINDS OF ROADS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO IDENTIFY ALL OF THEM.
JUST BECAUSE THE STORM MAY, IYH, TONE DOWN A GOOD DEAL TOMORROW, DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO PLAY IN ANY WATER ON ANY STREET, AT LEAST FOR A FEW DAYS UNTIL THEY ASSESS WHERE THOSE LIVE WIRES ARE. BE SAFE AND PATIENT PLEASE!!!

  5. I am learning by the flashlight, its original and the howling of the wind makes it feel like when hillel climbed up the roof and was listening in thru the sky light to the divrie torah, the gemora says that it was winter then, that’s how I felt tonight

  6. Power has been down since 2:30 PM today.
There is a tree down on Ridge between New Hampshire and County Line (closer to New Hampshire)
You CANNOT see it until you are to close, there are live wires hangin out, not to mention the tree across the entire road. I almost hit it!

  7. The lakewood fire works are sponsored in part by JCP&L and the Lakewood scoop.
Vosikin minyanim can now clearly tell when its time to daven shachris, if they can see the difference between the Blue or Green light coming from the Blown transformers.
Speaking of the fire works, how many of you “accidentally” made the brocha “Oseh Maseh Breishis” on the bright blue light that came about from a blown transformer?

  8. Beis Nachum in Brookhill shul has power, coffee and a ‘varime mikve’ with a 7:00 minyan that will accommodate shachris k’vasikin as well;)

  9. To shandyschmandy- please take a moment an go to the News12 NJ website. I do believe that your skeptisim needs a reality check!
The pictures and reports of devastation around the state, hopefully, will adjust your attitude towards this storm!
Over 2,000,000 (million) customers in NJ alone are without power! Besides the flooding and power outages, structures have been swept out to sea – example: more than half of the pier in seaside is gone-
There have been numerous fires all over the state. The GSP is closed both directions from 129 south.
Many bridges and tunnels crossing into NY are closed! {NYC still has suspension of subway and bus service, PATH service is suspended} Many many homes around the state have been damaged by falling trees. (And many more than that have lost vehicles)
But besides the material losses, people have lost their lives!
So, please, educate yourself– this was not just some little storm of wind and rain!

  10. Stay OFF the roads! Can’t stress this enough! You think you know better so you can drive around? Every other town is urging residents to stay at home today. I know we all must have cabin fever but stay put until tomorrow. Just because your block has power, no lines down, and no broken trees doesn’t mean there’s a whole other story next
    Block over.

  11. Wow…. so many people with access to the internet without power??? That is a scary thought! I hope all have filters on their alternate internet devices!

  12. have patience,,and though we might not perceive the goodness of G-d’s plan, we have Bitachon that it indeed is good. The basis of our existence is the realization of the concept “Ein Od Milvado.” There is nothing besides Him – Hashem is the ultimate Controller, Conductor, Facilitator and, of course, Creator and Owner of everything and every occurrence in existence, past, present and future.Imagin that we got this letter from hashem, This is G-d. Today I will be handling ALL of your problems for you. I do not need your help. So, have a nice day. I love you.
    G-d.

When we see a situation that seems so unlikely to happen naturally, we can assume that it represents a serious test to bring us to higher levels and through the passing of this test to become truly deserving.

This being the case, the more unnatural the set of circumstances and crises, the more obvious it becomes that this is an opportunity to rise to new heights and to become deserving of success and blessing never previously achievable

  13. I saw at least a dozen JCP & L trucks drive by on New Egypt Road in Lakewood this morning. I do not know where they were heading, but I have yet to spot them doing any repairing in the area. It looks like I will be eating peanut butter sandwiches for awhile. Two huge 60 foot trees belonging to my neighbor fell down in my backyard and crushed my wheelbarrow. Luckily they missed hitting my 3 containers of pitcher plants. I now have to wait for my other neighbor’s son to show up to cut up the trees and dispose of them. I am also so glad the trees did not hit the house.

  14. Does anyone have ANY idea when were getting our power back? Any chance of school tomorrow?! Contemplating going to brooklyn if its long enough to make it worth it…

  15. BP gas on route 9 across from the lake has gas and power and long lines.
For all the people asking when the power is going back on, go back and read what JCPL was saying before the storm! 7-10 days I hope it’s sooner but did you look around and see what they are dealing with? And believe me, Lakewood got off relatively easy!
