  1. Can some1 pls give a summary of the hespedim of such a yid. I couldn’t make it to the levaya but I would really like to know who spoke and what they said.

    Tichle shana vkilelosehu

  2. PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT THE PICTURE OF THE SHUL WHERE THE LAVAYA TOOK PLACE WAS BUILT BY AVI HIMSELF. NOT ONLY THIS SHUL, BUT THE OLD SHUL ON PARK AND FOURTH WAS ALSO REDONE BY HIM. I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT HE EVEN MADE MUCH PROFIT FOR HIMSELF ON ANY OF THESE PROJECTS. THIS WAS PART OF HIS SELFLESS DEVOTION FOR TORAH AND MEKOMOS HATEFILAH. YOU CAN JUDGE BY THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE AND THE BROAD SPECTRUM FROM WHICH THEY CAME , HOW EVERYONE LOVED DEALING AND BEING FRIENDS WITH AVI. I MYSELF TRIED TO VISIT HIM AT HOME EVERY SHABBOS AFTER SHUL AND WHILE WE WERE THERE EVERY WEEK IT WAS AVI ENTERTAINING US WITH A LECHAIM AND CHULENT INSTEAD OF LETTING US BEING MEVAKER CHOLIM. IT WAS HIS PRIDE TO BE ABLE TO BE MACHNIS ORECH EVEN THOUGH HE WAS IN A WHEELCHAIR.
WE WILL MISS HIM DEARLY. MAY HE BE A MAILITZ YOSHER FOR HIS WIFE, CHILDREN AND FOR ALL OF CLAL YISROEL.

  3. Avi was one of those people who were able to do chesed without the receipient realizing it; I never knew who the person sitting next to me in BMG was, until he invited me for Shabbos one week. I found out that he wasn’t a bochur (although he related to me as one) but rather someone who could make anyone feel welcome at his Shabbos table, invited or not. (I ‘crashed’ the Zweibacks a number of times, and Avi made me think he had been ‘expecting’ me). I found out I wasn’t the only one who could call on him or his family for a favor, a kind word, or a family for a out of town bochur – there were people who didn’t fit in Yeshiva, to the best bochurim – all found a place at his house. The Zweibacks even made Sheva Brachos for a number of us. When he asked for K’lal Yisrael to be Marbe Shalom in his Z’chus, it was because that was who Avi was – an example of Shalom and doing good for others, without anyone realizing he was the one doing the favor. May he be Melitz Yosher for K’lal Yisrael in the Y’mei Hadin

  4. Hard to come to terms with the fact that he is niftar. Such a special yid, who was a man of action, in such a pleasant and beautiful way. He made so many close relationships, and I was fortunate enough to be one of them. Every thing he said and did was yotzie min halev.
He had a great sense of humor, which stayed with him until the very end, even during his worst yissurim. He did not let people know how much tzar he was really in.
May his chosheve almana know of no more tzoros, and his kinderlach should blossom into true b’nei and b’nos Torah, inspired by the legacy of Avi, z”l.
