As reported earlier this week, the Howell Township has arranged for a central Chometz burning tomorrow, in order to keep all homes and residents safe.
Township and fire officials in Howell worked with local townships – including Lakewood DPW, and Jackson, as well as with Askonim to ensure the process would work out smoothly and safely.
Today, Howell DPW Supervisor Brian Greenfield was there with multiple employees to set up barricades, signage and the dumpster – which was graciously sponsored by Moshe Dahari of Wynn’s Bins.
The event is taking place at Soldier Memorial Park on Lakewood-Farmingdale Road (Squankum Road) on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
When you enter the park, make a left at the first road, and you will see the setup along the left side of the road. All are asked to park in the designated areas.
Chaveirim of CJ will be on hand to assist attendees.
In addition to the protocols and supervision on the part of government agencies, it is imperative that individuals and families utilizing these sites follow proper safety guidelines, in order to avoid potential injuries or other dangers.
Some pertinent guidelines are as follows:
1) Maintain a proper distance from the fire, per the directives of officials onsite.
2) Children must be under constant adult supervision.
3) The fire is for the burning of appropriate food items only. No cans, bottles, plastic, Lulav cases, garbage, or similar items can be thrown into the fire. Burning these items present a true danger to everyone nearby.
Askonim would like to thank Howell Township Manager Joe Clark, Howell Township Police Chief John Storrow, Fire Marshal Brian J. Prochnow, and DPW Supervisor Brian Greenfield, for pulling the event together and to ensure all is done in the utmost professional, efficient and safe manner.
