Howell Police seeking information about accident that left Lakewood resident in critical condition

Chaim Yisroel ben Chaya, the Lakewood resident critically injured in an accident last night in Howell, may have not been struck by a vehicle – but he possibly swerved to avoid one, or another object.

It was initially reported that the biker was struck by a vehicle, but police say that may not be the case.

“At this point, it appears that the rider may have hit the brakes hard and was ejected from the bike,” police say. “He sustained a serious head injury as a result.”

At approximately 830 pm, emergency personnel respondned to the intersection of Lakewood Allenwood Road and Cascades Avenue, where they found victim on the ground.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the bicyclist or have any information is requested to contact Ptl. Matthew Cherney at 732-938-4575, ext. 2629 or [email protected].

Please continue to be Mispallel for Chaim Yisroel ben Chaya.

  1. If you have an Apple Watch 4 it’s helpful to turn on the fall detection so that it could call 911 automatically if it detects a fall and give its precise GPS location.
