Hospitals Restricting Visitors Due To High Levels Of Flu

With high levels of influenza in New Jersey, several hospitals are taking steps to protect their patients and workers.

Jersey Shore Medical Center and Ocean Medical Center, among others, say that visitors will have to be at least 12 years old and will not be granted access if they have a fever or cough.

Other hospitals also enforcing these restrictions include Hackensack Medical Center, Palisades Medical Center, Mountainside Medical Center, Raritan Bay Medical Center (Old Bridge and Perth Amboy locations), Riverview Medical Center, and Southern Ocean Medical Center.

In Lakewood, Leisure Chateau has restricted visitors under the age of 18.

The rules are in response to increased levels of the flu in New Jersey, as health officials recently declared it to be widespread in the state. Officials say the new restrictions will remain in place until the flu season has passed.

  1. all hospitals should never allow anyone in who has a cough or fever. The people hospitalized are very vulnerable, and can get infections very easily, chas veshalom.

Someone visiting a sick friend or relative when they themselves have fever, is totally irresponsible.

I don’t understand what the chiddush is, I think all hospitals should always have this rule.
