New Jersey’s largest health insurer says it will cover members’ costs for getting a swine flu shot. Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey said that its New Jersey members will be covered for the costs of administering the H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available. Horizon’s chief medical officer, Dr. Richard Popiel, said members should consult their personal physician to determine if the vaccine is appropriate for them. The federal Centers for Disease Control has recommended that pregnant women, people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months old, health care workers, children and those with chronic medical conditions get first priority for the vaccine.
Horizon has more than 3.6 million members in New Jersey. AP
