For the second time this year, the Ocean County Board of Freeholders will install plowable road reflectors to improve visibility on some county boulevards. “We are continuing our program of installing these reflectors along heavily traveled roads and in areas near curves and intersections where visibility is most important,” said Freeholder John P. Kelly, director of Law and Public Safety.
Freeholder Director James F. Lacey said the orange reflectors are framed in metal, which protects them from snowplows and wear from passing traffic.
“It’s always more difficult to see the road at night or in the rain,” Lacey said. “These simple little reflectors really make a big difference.”
Locally, the reflectors will be installed along portions of Bennetts Mills Road in Jackson and Hope Chapel Road in Lakewood.
According to a press release, the Board of Freeholders will seek bids for the reflector installation. The project is expected to cost about $108,000.
Earlier this year, the county installed the reflectors along 27 miles of additional roads.
“When it comes to highway improvements, these reflectors are a relatively inexpensive investment that pays big dividends in keeping our motorists and pedestrians safe,” Kelly said. Tri-Town.
We need sidewalks pls its soooo dangerous when we walk on shabbos towards miller from clear stream
why do you need sidewalks? they are all over this town but do you use them NO! you walk in the middle of the street anyway, so why should MY tax dollars go to put in sidewalks that aren’t being used?
I myself live on Miller road and 5% of accidents happen because of the reason that there are no sidewalks on Clear stream! I know,
well, for starters if people would do the POSTED speed limits in this town and not think they were driving in the indy 500, 99% of the accidents in this town would not occur. Hope Chapel is 45 not 80, Miller is 40 not 65 and Clearstream is 35 not 70 AND there is a STOP sign at Clearstream and Miller and EVERY OTHER intersection in town and people knew what one of them was 100 % of accidents would not happen.
