FIRST REPORT: TLS has learned that the 16 year old Hispanic girl who was pinned under the school bus, has died of her injuries. The girl was in critical condition since being pinned under the school in a freak accident as she was riding her bicycle on the sidewalk, but has succumbed to her injuries last night at Jersey Shore Medical Center, sources close to the family tell TLS.
The girl was extricated from underneath the bus by Hatzolah, EMS and Lakewood First Aid, and was flown to JSMC.
The Kallah who was extricated from the other vehicle involved, remains in serious condition. TLS-18.

Horrible news to read in the morning. May hashem help her family through these hard times.
What a tragedy!
My heart and prayers are with the family…
This is terrible news. The article states “in a freak accident”, this was not a freak accident. This could have been avoided. All people operating vehicles whether they are cars, trucks, or buses need to be careful and pay attention and obey traffic laws.
Very sad
This is a very sad day for the entire Lakewood community.
May she rest in peace and may G-D give the strength to her family to cope with there tremendous loss.
Did she wear a helmet? I know a bus is stronger than a helmat but only her leg was pinned the head injuries where only from the fall
Terrible story. RIP.
If anyone would like to do Tehillim again for the Kallah…
I’ll do 1-5 bli neder.
i believe helmets are required for persons under 16 . even so ,a bus fell on top of her, do you think a helmet will do anything?
Ill do 5-11
Ill say 6-10 (inclusive) bli neder
This is truly a sad day. Such a young life taken away in its prime, enough to bring anyone to tears. May god watch over all of us and bring an end to all tradgady in this wonderful town we call home.
so sad for the girl, l’havdil, may the kallah have a refuah shleima -maybe tls can make a program that you can download the kapitlach tehillim on the side of the screen (letsay 1-10, 10-20) so people will be able to recite them on the spot and finish tehillim easily instead of pledging and maybe forgetting? just an idea
i will do 11-15 (inclusive)
who would think that a stroll on the sidewalk would end like this? This is so sad!! God give us strength to keep going.
To # 12. Thank you for the suggestion. Here is a link for Tehillim: http://www.dailytehillim.com/Default.aspx?Perek=1
It shows so much the we care abt ppl from other communiys. RIP
Very sad… Just want to make a point. Who are we to decide that this was this person or that persons fault? I know that a person is responsible for his actions, but can any one of us say we never made a mistake? Sadly this mistake had terrible repercussions.
It is always a sad day for Lakewood Township when one of our residents is critically injured. We have so many car accidents in town that is always going to be an issue. My thoughts and prayers are with this family and remain with them through these very difficult times. I hope the people in the other vehicle are going to recover and be well. In spite of the horrible situation and the need to act very fast at the scene, I commend the Lakewood PD, Lakewood FAS, Hatzolah EMS and our Paramedics for doing a great job of mitigating this situation and working so hard to save her life. In spite of the later outcome, a very fine job by all.
i feel terrible for the family and what they are going through. To lose a child r”l is beyond words. Maybe TLS can post an address so that we can send condolence cards. May no parent ever have to experience this sort of unbearable pain and anguish!
So sad, my G-d give the family strength and peace
There are no words. All of Lakewood lost a child today.
To “jh” pls don’t text while driving ty
so sad. her family is going to be grieving for a long time. 16 is way too young and now her family won’t see her getting married and having a family of her own. we should pray for more happy moments and be thankful for the laws we have helping to keep us safe. if we didn’t have these laws, the world would be a very bad place. even if there are still accidents in the world, we should be thankful for the people who help protect us and who do their best to keep things under control.
I’d rather be called an old slow poke on the road, and get gestures from all theyoung guys in a big hurray, than be the cause of such a terrrible accident like this. Everybody PLEASE Slow Down!
Nebach, it’s so sad. I really feel terrible for her and her family.
Such sad news. My thoughts and prayers to her family and my she RIP.
To all the drivers driving through lakewood and anywhere else, PLEASE slow down and pay better attention.
may she rest in peace and my we pray for her family, and we must pray for the kallah and her family, this was a tragedy all around.

Wow, what a surprise that my comment was “moderated;” not shown. Keep living your fairytale.
dear #17, when people predictably make mistakes we absolutely MUST judge and take action; otherwise we are not sensible and the Gemarra proscribes accepting senseless people. it is time to start taking #3’s comments seriously and even ostracize unsafe drivers.
that being said, such a tragedy is surely from Hashem and for deeper reasons than we can ever fathom.
