Here’s what prompted the Haz-Mat Team to respond to a Lakewood home

As reported last night on our News Alerts, the Haz-Mat Team responded to a home in Lakewood for a suspicious odor after people reportedly felt ill.

The Berkley Haz-Mat team, Lakewood Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene.

So just what was the suspicious item?

“The hazardous materials was hot peppers,” Lieutenant Greg Staffordsmith told TLS. “The occupants fell ill from the smell of cooking the hot peppers.”

The investigation lasted approximately two hours.
