Hearthstone Roundabout Getting Facelift Due To Near Accidents

The roundabout on Hearthstone Drive and Lakewood Pine Boulevard will be getting a facelift, DPW Supervisor Tony Arrechi says. The roundabout, says Arrechi, has been the cause of many near-accidents due to the lack of proper street signs in the area.

The Township today added the necessary signs making it more driver-friendly.

The only other roundabout in Lakewood, is on Oak Street.

It’s about time they get rid of the one on Oak. Almost every time I pass by there there is an accident. Nobody knows when to Stop, Yield or go.

What’s wrong with a 4 way stop sign?

just get rid of them and either put a STOP SIGN or a traffic light

It has nothing to do with the signage, it has to due to the drivers in this development. There are yield signs on all four merging entrances to the circle. They insist on taking a short cut around the circle , going left instead of bearing right. The drivers are always driving way too fast on Heathstone and Morris. I live here I know it to be a fact. Stop signs are ignored, speed limits are ignored turn signals are very really used and people are on the phone driving. Total disregard of the laws.

I think people should be retested on the rules of the road. I used to hear excuses all the time where I live like, I’m not from here. SO does that mean you can’t read a sign or know the rules on how to drive in the state of NJ.

Roundabouts are stupid and dangerous no matter where they are. They should be eliminated completely because nobody knows how to navigate them safely.

I know how to navigate a “roundabout” (which is called a circle to a NJ native) safely. For anyone who doesn’t, avoid them or read a NJ drivers manual. Should the government spend millions of dollars getting rid of them because of driver ignorance?
