Hatzolah Members: Some Basic Safety Precautions Can Save A Life

lit addressFollowing recent incidents, several Hatzolah members requested that we stress the importance of a few issues, which can possibly save a life. The first, an all year-round issue. Well lit home addresses. Hatzolah members tell TLS, that looking for an address in the evening time-and during the first moments following an emergency-can be most frustrating when no home address is visible. “Either get the lit address numbers, or have the area well lit, making the numbers clearly visible from the road” a member suggested, pointing to a home with no immediately visible address. “Can you find the number on this home? I can’t” says the member.

The second issue, a Summer issue, is having an address clearly posted at each poolside.

“We get calls from people at pools, and they don’t know where they are”, says a  Hatzolah member, referring to those renting pools during the Summer. “I’m somewhere in the so and so area, doesn’t help the dispatcher”, he said.

“Also”, added another member, “No matter how old you are, never swim alone”. “Swimmers can get cramps or other medical emergencies during swimming-such as a Stroke or Seizure-which can, G-d forbid, lead to drowning”.

Wishing all a happy and safe summer.

You can buy reflector number stickers, to go on both sides of your mail box, available at Center Of Town or Home Depot for just a couple of dollars.

You should also have Hatzolahs Phone number clearly posted on your home phone and your address, so a babysitter or cleaning help could easily see.

After calling Hatzolah please send out a family member if available to direct Hatzoloh to your house.

LPD Dispatcher

That goes for the LPD dispatchers as well.. we are here to help you. Not giving the general vicinity of the house or area is helpful. There are over 75K people in this town, and telling us you are at a house by the corner of Chestnut St & Idalia Ave doesn’t help us. We need the residents to flag us down or give better locations. Get the help to you
Thank you

#5 (LPD dispatcher)- LOL there are 3 cops (including a sergeant?) who LIVE on that block, so that one block probably wont have that particular issue, but I get your point! 🙂
