Hatzolah this afternoon announced its annual Shabbos Hatzolah campaign. The campiagn, which is addressed by Rabbonim and Gabbaim throughout Lakewood, is aimed at educating the community about the ever growing services and operating budget of Hatzolah.
“Hatzolah’s operating budget last year for medical equipment, insurance, dispatch lines, etc. was close to $750,000”, Hatzolah says. “This excludes any capital expansion expenses such as construction and the purchase of ambulances. The campaign will help Hatzolah maintain its basic operation, which includes basic medical supplies, insurance, Shabbos Goyim, ambulance repairs, dispatching, training, etc. In this difficult economy, it is of utmost importance that everyone participates so that we can cover these costs.”
“Here are some interesting yet unknown facts about Hatzolah:
- Hatzolah responds to an area of 27.5 square miles. We also respond to calls in surrounding areas such as Howell, Brick and Jackson.
- Last year close to 6,000 calls were answered.
- Hatzolah responded to close to 400 motor vehicle accidents.
- Hatzolah completed over 3,500 transports to local facilities.
- On an average month, 40 transports were done to out of town hospitals such as Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Monmouth Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Robert Wood Johnson and various New York hospitals.
- Paramedics were needed for approximately 1,000 calls.
