PHOTOS: Like so many within the Jersey Shore area, Harrogate, a Life Care Continuing Care Retirement Community in Lakewood, experienced power failure on November 7, 2012 due to the destruction of Hurricane Sandy.
However, “Upon answering the call of assistance, though, Jersey Central Light & Power (JCL&P), the Lakewood Office of Emergency Management and Alabama Power immediately and effectively restored power within a 24-hour period, which prevent evacuation of the 300 resident senior adult community”, a Harrogate spokesperson said.
Yesterday, Harrogate held an appreciation ceremony and presented each company with a plaque commemorating their efforts during the Hurricane Sandy clean-up efforts.
In attendance were Pete Johner, Area Manager – External Affairs, Jersey Central Power & Light; Kathy Moyer, Account Representative, Jersey Central Power & Light; Ken Dix, Deputy Coordinator, Lakewood Township Emergency Management Services; Clyde Sutton, Assistant Executive Director of Harrogate; Don Johansen, Executive Director of Harrogate and Harrogate residents.
