We regret to inform you of the Petira of Harav Shlomo Mendelson Z”L, who was Niftar in Lakewood on Monday at the age of 79.
Born in American, Harav Shlomo traveled to Eretz Yisroel in the mid 1950s, and Learned both in the Mirrer Yeshiva and Ponivezh, and was a Talmid of Rav Yechezkel Levenstein Zatzal and Rav Elya Lopian Zatzal.
Rav Shlomo was very involved with the Morrocan Bachurim who were brought to the United States by Rav Avrohom Kalmanowitz Zatzal, and took care of the bachurim both with their Ruchniyos and Gashmios.
Rav Shlomo was also a Rebbe in the Yeshiva in Boston, which was headed by Harav Leib Heiman Zatzal. Counted among his talmidim was Harav Malkiel Kotler.
He was later a Rebbe in Yeshiva Marbitzei Torah run by Rav Zaidel Leshinsky.
Rav Shlomo was also involved in upholding Kashrus in the United States for over 40 years, and was a teacher and mentor to many of today’s senior Mashgichim.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Itty Mendelson, his children Rav Chaim Mendelson (Yerushalayim), Sara Chana Goldberg (Yerushalayim), Yenty Dorfman (Lakewood), Chaya Roizy Finkelstein (Yerushalayim), Mayer Mendelson (Kiryat Sefer), Aaron Mendelson (Lakewood), Naomi Katsman (Lawrence), and Pinny Mendelson (Lakewood) as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Yes he was. He was also Rav Zuckermans friend, chavrusa and shadchan.

Rabbi Shlomo Mendelson’s hashgacho is listed on page 63 of the 2015-16 kosher supervision guide of kashrus magazine. it says he gave hashgacho on Tov U’Mativ & seudah
