Harav Forscheimer: If You Witness an Attempted Luring on Shabbos or Yom Tov, Phone Police Immediately

In light of the recent attempted luring incidents which have occurred in Lakewood over the past few days and weeks, we are republishing the Psak from Lakewood Posek Harav Forscheimer posted on TLS several years ago.

Harav Yaakov Forscheimer has issued a clear Psak in regards to calling authorities on Shabbos and Yom Tov in the event of an attempted luring.

From our archives:

After researching the recent incidents, and personally conferring with Law Enforcement Officials, Harav Forscheimer has stated that one who witnesses an attempted luring or abduction during Shabbos or Yom Tov should immediately contact police.

The number to call in Lakewood, is 732-363-0200, and then '0' when you hear the machine. Calling 911 delays the process, as calls get routed through the County.
