Governor Murphy Launches Bid For Second Term

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy on Thursday filed a campaign committee with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission. The move allows him to begin fundraising for a second term in office.

The governor will have Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver as his running mate again.

In an email to supporters, First Lady Tammy Murphy said that she will serve as finance chair for the reelection campaign.

According to the New Jersey Globe, Murphy will not begin hiring campaign staff until later this year.

If successful, Governor Murphy – who is highly popular in the state – would become the first Democratic governor to win reelection in New Jersey since 1977.

Governor Murphy will very likely highlight to voters his leadership on the coronavirus and resulting economic issues, as well as his many progressive achievements during his first term, including the recently-enacted higher income tax rate on millionaires.

  1. He announces his intention to run again, the same day he raised the gas tax 9.3 cents. We are up to 50.7 cents/gallon tax.
All he had to do was put an executive order out delaying the tax hike, BUT NO. He wants to hurt the middle class taxpayers.
He thinks he needs another term?
We, the middle class taxpayers need to turn this Blue State RED.

  2. If Jews want to be able to have affordable living in NJ without continuation of raising already high real estate taxes, gas taxes, now the new health insurance tax and of course other tax increases he has in plan, it is incumbent to vote him out!!!

Otherwise we should start considering establishing communities in Pennsylvania or elsewhere.

  3. I actually thought he acted with a lot of sensitivity towards frum yidden during the coronavirus first wave, and he certainly is being very careful not to call us out now.
    He is a mentch.
Although his positions on hashchasa obviously I do not agree with, I will be voting for him for a second term.

  4. Thats a real highlight…the work he’s done on Covid and the economy.
I’m also not a fan of the millionaires’ tax – for reasons I’d rather not disclose here.
I was about to bash him on the gasoline tax when I remembered, that was Christie’s brilliant idea.
It just may be time to move to that new Tampa Kehilla !!

  5. The gas tax alone is reason enough to vote for Kermit the Frog instead of this man. Leadership? Millionaire’s tax? Not quite. You got to be a knucklehead to vote for Murphy again.

  6. I am grateful to the governor for his sensitivity to Lakewood during this coronavirus wave. He has been extremely careful not to cast blame- and to deter anyone who wishes to do so. Thank you Governor for your compassionate response!

  7. Notice those that commented that they want him to stay? The people that will benefit from him, and it’s not your local Jews . We need a strong campaign to turn New Jersey RED. Don’t need the corrupt democrats who are here to serve themselves and their cronies .

  8. Keep voting for him, if you are looking for insane continuation of raising taxes.

He is careless about the middle class.

During covid is a great time to raise and work on raising multiple taxes, right?

  9. Wow so he is nice to us in Lakewood so I will vote for him??!
Is that all is takes to earn a vote? Is widening Route 9 on the agenda? Paying higher taxes? Gas tax and increase in tolls? Has he done anything that you can support with some fiscal responsibilty? It is easy to borrow billions so the state has future problems instead of showing leadership and dealing with issues like the bloated government funding that doesn’t benefit us the taxpayers…. Vote him out
