BREAKING: Governor Murphy Further Tightening Restrictions As Cases Rise

Governor Murphy will announce at his daily press conference at noon that he is implementing more restrictions in New Jersey as cases of coronavirus continue rising.

The governor will announce that he is cutting the maximum number of people that can gather at an outdoor event to 25, down from 150. It was barely a week ago that Murphy lowered the outdoor gathering limit from 500 to 150. The new outdoor gathering limits will go into effect next Monday, December 7th.

Additionally, the governor will announce that beginning this Friday, all indoor high school and youth sports will be prohibited through New Year’s day. Outdoor sports will be permitted but with a maximum of 25 spectators.

In a Sunday morning interview, Governor Murphy said that can’t rule out implementing a complete lockdown in New Jersey due to the number of new cases being recorded each day, but said that he doesn’t see that happening anytime soon.

  1. I will preface this by saying I am not Not a lawyer. I am a simple person who is out there driving around the state trying to earn a living. I see how people are scared out of their minds because the governor is telling them omg we’re going to die. I show them these numbers and how they are being manipulated into thinking omg we’re going to die. After that more often than not they actually calm down. They also realize how stupid they were being played by the governor.

More phony boloney scare the hell out of everybody actions by our governor.

We are being played! Here are the real numbers. We are talking about 0.33% of the state being infected over the past week. That means 99.67% are fine. Why do we need to go through this?

We are being played. We are getting the number of positives divided by the number of tests taken so of course that’s going to be higher. It’s not including everyone else in the state who’s not getting tested. It’s not including everyone else in the state who doesn’t need to be tested. There’s 8.882 million people in New Jersey. Approximately 29,000 tested positive in the past 7 days. If you divide 29,000 by 8.82 million, you get approx 0.0033. now move your decimal point two places to the right and you have 0.33%.

In their fake numbers, they keep counting the people who already had it and who are already better. They’re unfortunately counting the dead people over and over. Sounds like the Democrat Party doesn’t it?

We need to be vigilant and do what we can, but these lockdowns are utterly insane.

Wake up and smell the coffee!

    • Absolutely correct!! I talk to young healthy people around the state all the time and they are absolutely convinced they are about to die! They can’t believe someone like me actually “survived” Covid. And when I tell them that my kids had covid, all my neighbors’ kids had covid and my entire immediate family including my elderly parents had covid, they almost die from shock! They can’t get over how the Lakewood community is putting their kids “at risk” by sending them to school. What a joke!
The problem is that most people just watch drama news and never bother to read so they are incapable of putting things in perspective.

    • We are not being played at all.

Statistics are funny things. When you say that 0.33% of NJ’s population turned up positive yesterday, I agree that it sounds like not a big deal.

But consider this. The USA has a population of 328.2 million people. 266,000 of them have died from COVID according to the CDC. That’s a measly 0.08% of the population. That’s right: 8 hundredths of 1 percent. BUT THAT IS TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SIX THOUSAND people who would be a live today if not for this virus. I call that a crisis.

But I heard a statistic a few weeks ago that said that since Yom Kippur there are 10 yungerleit in Lakewood that are dead from COVID. I can’t vouch for that figure but I believe it was accurate. I personally know of 2 deaths in Lakewood myself. At this point, I would imagine the number is higher. A young father of around 40 just succumbed to COVID last week in Passaic leaving 5 children.

Realize that if our communities had only taken precautions, that these people might be alive today for their families

No. We are not being played.

If we continue to delude ourselves, then yes, a few – only a handful – in our communities will die r”l, but they will die r”l because we stubbornly refused to care.

      • To Simcha:
The virus in almost every case does not have to be deadly if dealt with correctly. Yes, we are VERY MUCH being played!!!
PLEASE stop being part of the problem and spreading the tiresome and dangerous misinformation. The problem is NOT that a handful of people aren’t wearing masks (which they have every right to if they can’t for medical reasons, etc.). Even if no one wore a mask EVER that would NOT be the problem. Lack of mask wearing is NOT THE PROBLEM!!! (although I do believe that everyone should wear a mask to avoid a chillul H-shem ch’v)

The Problem is that there ARE treatments out there that work (Zelanko protocol and others) but tragically they are being made hard to obtain – and many lies about them not being helpful are being purposely spread around.
The problem is people not being aware of what to do if they do come down with the virus (i.e. check oxygen constantly, treat with available treatments which DO work – and treat EARLY, if hospitalization is needed, be careful to ONLY go to a hospital with good outcomes and that treats the virus correctly).
The problem is that people have a FALSE sense of security from their masks and therefore, do not do the preventative measures that TRULY work such as taking Vitamin D, Zinc etc. daily etc.

DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! SEE PAST ALL THE LIES!! SAVE YOUR LIFE!!! DON’T CH”V BECOME ANOTHER STATISTIC TO BE USED FOR POLITICAL REASONS!!!!

        • There are so many inaccuracies and falsehoods here that I don’t know where to begin.

Let’s talk about the Zelenko protocol. I know doctors who have used it. I know people who claimed that it has helped them. Yet it is very hard to prove that the cocktail works because when it doesn’t work, people say that it wasn’t given early enough. How do we know that the people wouldn’t have recovered on their own without it? In other words, it is hard to falsify claims of its efficacy. The CDC or NIH (not sure) has looked closely at it, and has concluded that there is no proof that it works. I refuse to believe that these government health organizations are so corrupt that they are withholding an amazing cure from the public. It’s a conspiracy theory that it too big to accept.

The problem is not that only a HANDFUL of people aren’t masking. The problem is that most people are not. Jewish stores in Monsey and Lakewood are not enforcing masking. In practically no yeshivas or shuls (places of public gatherings) is there a masking policy in place. When there is such flagrant violation of this recommended guideline, how can you say that A) it’s only a HANDFUL of people and B) that we now have proof that it doesn’t work. How about making the intelligent choice of following the government (CDC) guidelines (not to mention the fact that Lakewood doctors recommend this as well!). Only when everyone starts complying can we make the assessment that it doesn’t work. I will bet you that when everyone is masked everywhere in public that the infection rate will drop. It’s just common sense. Yes, I know that a mask doesn’t hermitically seal your face, but the goal is to sharply REDUCE the amount of stuff your mouth and nose are spewing out so that the risk of spread is reduced. The few viral particles that may escape are few in number enough so that people’s immunity can fight it off. That’s how it works.

Now to your argument about wearing masks to prevent a chillul HaShem. What I find very offensive and truly arrogant about this comment is the thinking that underlies it. Your line of thought is that masking is worthless, the government is needlessly burdening us with this nonsense. The goyim are being duped by the doctors and government officials and are too stupid to realize it. We Jews of course know better than everyone else out there and the only reason we would comply is to give the impression that we take it seriously, but of course really we don’t. Do I have to show why this is arrogant? No, the government is not out to get us or control us. They are looking out for the common good, and there is ample medical evidence that advocates for public masking. No, we do not know better.

          • There was a report by NYU and Henry Ford Hospitals that shows patients treated with Hydroxchloroquine survival rate improved by over 50%

The FDA aborted it’s testing of hydroxychlroquine based on a study that came out in a medical journal which stated Hydroxychloroquine is dangerous, That study was a fraud and later the journal wrote a retraction.

A strange thing, people who work for the FDA and other government agencies that regulate Pharmaceuticals, are allowed to have side jobs and businesses with the Pharmaceutical industry creating a massive conflict of interest. Not to mention that many who work for the government, do so with an eye on getting a more lucrative job in the pharmaceutical industry

      • Everything you say may be correct (I am not sure where you got the number of 10 “yungeleit”.) but it’s also important to put things in PERSPECTIVE.
        1) “268,000 covid deaths”. Do you realize how many of those deaths are nursing home residents where statistics show that the 90% of nursing home residents die within the five months of admission? I personally know a hospice patient who was asymptomatic and was classified as a covid death. How many deaths can be attributed to stressed out nurses working in unfamiliar departments with unfamiliar equipment – with no families around to advocate for the resident? Again I’m personally aware of a situation where an OR nurse was pulled to ICU and admitted to a family member of mine that she had no clue how to work a ventilator shipped from the national stockpile. My heart cries for every person that was lost and my heart cries for every kid that gets hit by a car BUT I still let my kid out of the house to cross the street (after teaching him to look both ways)
        2) Does a death rate of .026 justify the destruction of people’s parnasah, the damage to our kids’ chinuch and the untold other damage to yidishkeit, the increase in poverty and addiction in our community and around the world? are you aware that in some MO communities, kids haven’t been to shul for close to a year and don’t even bother getting dressed for shabbos? But don’t worry they have their cell phones to keep them occupied. Can you imagine the anxiety level of these people driving alone in their cars with masks on? Parents making their kids crazy to wipe down everything that comes into their house? In normal times we would medicate for such high levels of OCD because we realize the toll it takes on everyone around them.
So yes, we urge those who we know to be high risk to do normal hishtadlus and take precautions. We follow the science that says the risk of outdoor casual transmission is extremely low. We are aware of the data showing that those with antibodies have almost no chance of getting it again anytime soon. We do not destroy our lives worrying that others will be from the tiny percentile of those not known to be at risk and still R’L pass away from this virus.
I would say to take the time to talk to choshuve rabonim who are well aware of the statistics and the risk. (this is not to take away from very choshuve rabonim in other communities who don’t agree but please realize there is another way to look at things)

        • I have a few comments in response to loops:
          1) You make the astounding claim that “in some MO communities kids haven’t been to shul for close to a year”. Are you aware of a single MO community that has not had shuls open since about Shavuos, certainly since the summer? If kids haven’t been going to shul for a year, there are other issues responsible for this, some of which we could speculate about, but this isn’t the forum for that.

          2) You express concern about OCD caused by being overly meticulous, for example cleaning every item entering the house. Let’s consider netilas yodayim – we obsess about making sure hands are first dry, then obsess to make sure the water goes far enough back on the hand, then obsess about making sure it doesn’t roll back onto the hand from above the wrist…. my point is that we as frummer yidden do plenty of things that involve OCD-like behavior. But that’s OK, because we regard it as important. If you regarded safe hygienic practices as important, like I and my friends do, then you would do just fine without going over the edge.

          3) You want people from outside Lakewood to recognize that choshuve local rabbonim approve of the way things are being done locally, and respect if the community has chosen to not mask. Fine, agreed. But shouldn’t such respect be a two-way street? Why is it that I repeatedly hear stories and have personally witnessed situations in which people who wear masks are ridiculed? A Brisker who doesn’t use a mehudar eruv is regarded as an Odom Kodosh, even if it means that someone else has to push the stroller when the guy wants to go somewhere on Shabbos. Why don’t we see that same level of respect and even reverence for maskers? Punkt fahrkert, we are laughed at, marginalized and lampooned. If we request that people near us be masked and/or keep their distance, we often get a hostile response, maybe even told to shut up or leave. I often attend a shul with a mandatory masking policy, and fights have broken out because some people think they have the right to daven there while violating rules that they don’t agree with and therefore don’t respect. Someone who isn’t willing to provide the same kind of respect he wants others to give him is not ehrliche. He’s no different from the guy who blocks a driveway with his SUV, or honks loudly where he knows that babies are sleeping – he’s just a selfish guy who demands that others accommodate him, but isn’t willing to reciprocate. Until us maskers start seeing that those who disagree respect our higher standard, a standard that has been advocated by the overwhelming majority of doctors (including the Lakewood doctors), then don’t expect respect from us.

  2. In the strongest way possible I urge the your website not to publish any comments and Kal vachomer posts that will criticize Murphy or any other Health guidelines and restrictions. Any spread of anti medical advice is in the catagory of Shfichas damim. Please make sure that you do everything possible to save people and not the opposite. Tizku lemitzvos in advance!

  3. If anyone dies it’s because it was decreed on Rosh Hashanah, not because yankel didn’t wear a mask which was never intended to protect against microscopic viruses. Yankel should wear a mask in public because of the chilull Hashem factor, not because they accomplish anything. Us Yidden believe in Hashgocha protis which means that whoever died from covid was a gezeirah min hashamayim R”L.

  4. @steven For you and your family’s sake, I strongly recommend that please you read @NJ’s comment who clearly understands how treatable this virus is if we DON”T follow the medical guidleines that are diverting our attention from the ones that really work. Call Somech hotline, CHaim Medical Resource. They both have tons of information that work. It is not March anymore, there is a lot of information for those who want it, and no one has to die from political lies. (Any smidgen of truth in videos on socail media were taken down and disallowed because they deviated from the left agenda. )

  5. It is Hashem who decrees how and when someone dies. Hashem decreed that many people had to die and He sent the corona virus to be the shaliach. Of course we have to do our hishtadlus to try and stay healthy, but that should be up to the individual not the governor. If you want to quarantine and wear a mask, that’s your hishtadlus, if you want to take vitamins D, C, zinc etc. that’s also someone’s hishtadlus. You won’t die if Hashem did not decree it to happen, so there is nothing to worry about.

    • This is absolutely incorrect. Hishtadlus is necessary, but you are obligated to do proper hishtadlus.

If the protocol for pneumonia is to take a certain antibiotic and you feel that you want to exercise your hishtadlus by just taking vitamic C and you then die, you are a poshea and responsible for your own death. When you then get to the Kisei HaKovod you won’t be able to plea that your death was predestined anyway.

Here too, the CDC and plenty of other doctors have told us what we need to do to stop the spread. If you ignore their advice which is grounded in hard scientific/medical fact, you are a poshea – not to mention the even greater concern that your personal choice not to mask endangers the lives of those around you.
