Governor Chris Christie Orders Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of Fallen Jersey City Police Officer Melvin Santiago

ripThe Governor has ordered all State buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Wednesday, July 16, to honor the service and sacrifice of Jersey City Police Officer Melvin Santiago, who was shot and killed on duty while responding to an armed robbery call.

“Officer Santiago’s selfless devotion to public service and the protection of his community makes him a hero and a true role model for all New Jerseyans.” said Governor Christie. “It is appropriate and fitting for the State of New Jersey to recognize his true commitment to the welfare and safety of others, to mark his passing, to honor his memory, and to remember his family as they mourn their tragic loss.” [TLS]

  1. Meanwhile, christie holds his staged town hall meetings and proclaims public workers to be the enemy. christie should do the right thing and STAY FAR AWAY from this Hero’s funeral on friday!!!!!!!

  2. It took this disgrace of a governor three days to finally lower the flags. .three days!!!. And they are to be lowered one day, tomorrow, not even on the day of his funeral. Meanwhile the flags were lowered by him immediately when whitney houston died. If he dares to show his face, he should be ordered to leave and escorted out by the Jersey City Police
