Gov. Christie to Announce Narcan Initiative in Brick Today

narcanGovernor Christie will announce a Narcan initiative in Brick today, the Governor’s office says. The initiative will be announced following a roundtable discussion taking place at the Herbertsville Fire Department.

The meeting comes about 10 days after the Governor granted a waiver allowing for NJ’s EMTs to administer the antidote which reverses the effects of Heroin overdoses.

The Narcan program in New Jersey was first kicked off by ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato – after being faced with dozens of overdose deaths in the County.

Coronato’s office has trained nearly all the County’s Police Departments in the use of the antidote, which will be carried by designated officers in each department. [TLS]
