If you are leaving for Yom Tov, you may want to have your mail placed on hold while you’re away. The USPS offers this service free from 3-30 days. It takes just a couple of minutes to sign up , which you can do by clicking here. You can sign up until 2:00 a.m the day you wish to start. Burglars look out for homes with accumulating mail. Note, when a hold is placed on your mail, it gets placed on the whole address, so if you are a landlord or a tenant, be sure you both want your mail held.
For your convenience and for future reference, this article has been added to our Pesach corner.
From experience it’s best not to hold mail, things get lost … Balagan, better let a neighbor take it.. Especially if your expecting a check from uncle Sammy…
Thank you for posting this!
I hold my mail everytime I am away for more than 3 days and I never had a problem-
has anyone else used this service? I’m reluctant to use it based on #1’s comments
