Attention parents: Make sure your kids are wearing their helmets. The Lakewood Scoop & LPD’s ‘Click-it & Lick It’ tickets have hit the streets, kicking off the second year of our safety program.
TLS this week gave hundreds of the free ice cream tickets to Police Chief Rob Lawson, who has distributed them to police officers to hand out to children found wearing their helmets. The coupons are redeemable at Sprinkles.
The program, founded and funded by TLS last year, is intended to promote helmet-wearing, as well as to give children an increased level of comfort and confidence to interact with police for when the need arises.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PARENTS: This program is specifically being done in conjunction with the Lakewood Police Department for security and safety reasons. Cards will ONLY be given out by patrol officers in a MARKED police car. No private citizens whatsoever will be giving out these cards. Children should be told never to approach a stranger’s vehicle – even if he or she claims to be from the Law Enforcement community. If you see someone attempting to give a child the ice cream card, please report it to the LPD & TLS immediately.
Enjoy, and be sure to send us your ‘Click-it & Lick It’ pictures to newstips@thelakewoodscoop.com!
Please make sure the officers visit all neighborhoods in Lakewood. We waited all summer last year and were very disappointed! Please don’t forget us in the Park/Dewey area! Thanks.
Correct the first sentence. It says “make sure you’re kids” when it should says “make sure your kids”
Same for Brookhill
Please visit the area of Spillman and Grover. My children are very eager to get free ice cream
It sounds like you are missing the point it is not about free Ice cream for kids. It is about rewarding the kids who wear their bicycle helmets and promoting safety for the children of Lakewood Township.
Please remember that
@jbates correct your second sentence. It should say “say” instead of says
