At approximately 10:44 this morning, a gas leak was reported behind LA Fitness in Brick Plaza.

The leak was the result of a contractor striking a gas meter.

Police and EMTs responded along with fire personnel from Pioneer Hose, Breton Woods, Laurelton Fire Departments and the Fire Safety Bureau. NJNG responded quickly and was able to shut the gas off to stop the leak.

Surrounding stores in Brick Plaza were evacuated and checked for residual gas that may have accumulated.

All stores are now open, with the exception of LA Fitness. There were no injuries reported on scene.
