Gangs Once Again Target Homes With Graffiti

graffiti ridge picPHOTOS: Just weeks after the Township finished cleaning up the gang-related graffiti which targeted many areas in Lakewood, the Gangs are at it again. 18th Street, VL (Vatos Locos) and other gang markings were once again found on homes and fences in the Ridge Avenue area. Some homes, a repeated target.

‘Vatos Locos’, is a mostly Hispanic Gang which means ‘Crazy Guys’.

  1. are we now finally starting to open our eyes to what LOW INCOME HOUSING & “CULTURAL DIVERSITY” means?

you invited the animals here… now you can deal with them.

  2. Perhaps the best way of dealing with these vile creatures is by becoming an inhospitable enviornment. Impound and tow all the out-of-state (specially PA & NC) cars. Enforce loitering laws. Crack down on noise complaints. Let’s operate Arizona style and ask about legal status WHEN CHARGED WITH A CRIME OR AT A TRAFFIC STOP.

  3. This is one of the many costs of cheap/illegal labor. By creating muster zones and not prosecuting illegal aliens we make it a safe haven for them. We have nobody to blame but ourselves (and our politicians).

  4. #7, there is a reason why Mexico’s the Murder Capital of the World.

Total murders in Juarez, Mexico reached 2600 last year(2009), in a city of about 1.3 million. Most of this is drug driven, with Mexico seeing 15,000 drug related deaths over the last 2 years.

so with numbers like that- excuse me for painting with a broad brush.

  5. I don’t blame the good citizens that live here like myself who just want a decent neighborhood to live in Its the lack of any planning with basically no zoning restrictions that has changed the face of Lakewood
Build it and they will come , now they have to deal with the crime that has invaded this once nice town

  6. why do you think it is from illegals? illegals come to do jobs Americans won’t do, because they are busy spraying graffiti!

  7. LPD should start patrolling those neighborhoods in unmarked cars like they do it in Newark or Trenton or NYC… Unmarked cars are much less noticeable and they will be able to bust these people in the act!

  8. Sorry folks. This neighborhood was bad news before the Mexicans started moving to Lakewood. They just moved into these neighborhoods because that’s what they could afford. My question is, why do we have to put ourselves in danger and move there too? Why did we anddo we continue to build in these horrible neighborhoods? Is Money everything? How about the safety of your families?

  9. Remember that story with that teenager in Singapore ,that sprayed graffiti & was caught ! He got maakos with a rattan cane ! Do you think people spray graffiti in singapore ?

  10. talk talk and nothing is done , stop saying americans wont do these jobs they did before, kids did them for the summer and the winter , part time work ever hear of it, forgot a lot here dont work

  11. Deporting them is not the answer..most of them return in 6 months..it is hard to control such a large border area with minimal manpower.. and when they get there they scatter. You can find them everywhere.
I agree some of them are hard working and want to be here but others see it as a place to run wild and try to take control. Those are the people you must seek out and move out

  12. There are hundreds of gangs in LA. With tens of thousands of members. A family can be seriously hurt by making a wrong turn into a unfamiliar block. A few of these gangs are now in lakewood. The graffiti, if you look closely. Are from the infamous LA gangs that have been opening chapters all over the country.
