PHOTO of the CIS publishing building on Park Avenue covered in gang-related graffiti this morning. This building is just one of the recently targeted gang-‘chalk boards’ around town. Earlier this week, gang-related graffiti was found on several homes and fences in the Ridge Avenue area, as reported here on TLS.
The most commonly seen graffiti ‘artwork’ in Lakewood, is that of the VL (Vatos Locos) and 18th Street gangs.
MS 13 gang artwork has also frequented Lakewood in recent months, as seen in this photo of a decorated wall in the Downtown area.
Despite the crackdown and cleanup attempts by town officials, it seems the gangs have an agenda of their own.
This is a real problem and it is far from artwork why are you calling it that it is vandalism!
Add the fences surrounding Tamarind Park on Joe Parker Road to the list. Why is the town’s response to penalize the property owners?
not the property owners fault. sad situation. what can be done?
shoot these vandals on first sight. that should eliminate the problem.. one at a time..
According to the “artwork” MS13 tagged the building first, then it was over tagged my 18th street gang & then VL over tagged them all…..
This is a brewing gang war. Tagging & claiming territory is serious business, so when a rival gang taunts & attempts to over power the rival gang by desecrating the graffiti- it is a public humiliation and taken serious enough to start a shoot out.
People- if you care about your family, you need to either move out of lakewood, stop renting to these parasites unless they are legal citizens, or buy a gun and be ready to defend your loved ones.
(yes i know they cross the boarder illegal to feed there families, but not all that cross are honest & hard working- so until we find a way to sort out who’s who… close up shop!)
Gangster are for losers.
Looking back at how Lakewood was in past years before being a “city” the type of behavior that we now see did not exist here, the town fathers wanted this community to be a “city” well guess what with that comes all the problems that status.
I’m not saying that all city people are bad people , but look at just a few examples here in NJ ~ Camdem, Newark Jersey City what do they all have in common ~ yup high crime rates ! Hello Lakewood what did you expect !!!!
So number 5, you really beleive only illegals r in gangs.
So number 5, you really beleive only illegals r in gangs.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT WE CLAIM OUR TERRITORY!!! LAKEWOOD IS 18 ST TERRITORY!!! XV3 IT WILL ALWAYS BE XV3
TO #7 – Atop blaming the title of the area, and start putting the guilt to where it belongs.
the reason for lakewood’s demise is very simple.
People bought up a lot of property in lakewood & placed the condo’s & houses up for section8(low income housing). With that, came the very-low income people. And i dont mean Low Income People like myself- those working 2 jobs trying to make it life like myself, but im talking about those that JUST DONT WANT TO WORK…. and they occupied condo’s & houses they didnt deserve, and started spreading the drugs, crime, gangs, and uncared for children.
You look at any country, the very low income & non working are always an issue related to crime & drugs.
They are called Thugs & Trash in America, Gypsies in Europe, Dalit’s(untouchables) in India, Burakumin in Japan, Cagot in France, Madhiban in Somalia, and Al-Akhdam in Yemen. All of those neighborhoods are run-down slums stricken with poverty, crime and drugs.
Am I the only one wo thinks the more publicity given to this ‘artwork’ the more it only encourages this kind of ‘artwork’ – if you get what I mean.
its going to be a matter of time before the gang war includes much more than spray paint . Let’s round these gangs up getem outta here. these guys are dangerous druglords capapble of kidnapings , robberies , infiltrating and terrorizing our community or worse. time for an all out fight against drugs and gangs in lakewood. chief , statement please. FBI agents that lurk lakewood, why don’t ya go after these creeps instead of luring yungerleit and rubashkin into your “traps”
i think the art work is beautiful—it blends in with the yellow trash cans
