Fundraiser Launched After Tragic Death Of Lakewood Police Officer

The law enforcement community and the entire population of Lakewood suffered a tremendously tragic blow with the untimely death of Ptl. Nicholas (Nick) Shimonovich, Badge #392, who passed away on Saturday following a motorcycle accident.

Nick was a dedicated officer who devotedly served the community during his years on the force. Throughout the pandemic, he tirelessly did all he could to help residents and be there for Lakewood. He served the community right up until his final day.

Nick’s parents, Lakewood Police Lieutenant Rob Shimonovich and Sergeant Jeanette Shimonovich, have been dedicated members of the LPD for many years and have been true friends of every resident of the community.

In light of this tragic events The National Chaplains Association, who have had the honor of working closely with the Lakewood Police Department and the Shimonovich family for many years, have set up a Rayze It campaign, with the approval of the Shimonovich family, to raise the funds needed for the burial plot, funeral and related expenses. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover these expenses.

Lakewood residents are asked to express their condolences and support the Shimonovich family and all the members of the LPD by generously donating to the campaign.

In addition to the Rayze It page, donations can be sent to the National Chaplains Association (501-C3), 60 Park Ave. S., Lakewood, NJ, 08701 (please include in memo line of the check “Badge #392”).
