Frum woman assaulted while shopping in Lakewood (PHOTO)

A Frum woman shopping in Lakewood this afternoon was assaulted, TLS has learned.

At approx 4:30 PM, the woman was walking through an aisle when she was grabbed from behind, an LCSW coordinator tells TLS.  The woman yelled and walked away, only for it to occur a second time minutes later. The victim snapped this picture before the suspect fled the store, the coordinator says.

Upon leaving the store, the victim phoned her mother in New York, who called her local Shomrim. The organization in New York in turn phoned LCSW to report the incident. A police report is being made.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact LCSW and the police department.

Approach the cashier?!?!? Why didn’t anyone come running to her screams???!!!! Kudos to the woman for having the quick sense to take a picture. Hopefully he will now be found very quickly.

My wife had a similar experience in at one of the local Kosher supermarkets last year and the owner immdediately confronted the worker and fired him. I did not press charges as they did what they could, but women should be wary when shopping at places where illegal immigrants work- there’s no way for the store owners to do a proper background check.

Something doesn’t make sense.if someone is “physically “ touched improperly why aren’t the police involved instantly? Unless the girl was embarrassed to make a whole scene.

How did she get a picture of the front of him as he was running away from her and leaving the store???

Apparently the alledged perp was confident enough to continue shopping after the alledged groping. And apparently the victim was skilled enough to photograph the alledged perp while running away.

Amil Zola, As with many victims of abuse, the woman was obviously unsure and was embarrassed to alert the local employees and contact the local security and or police. It takes guts and emotional wherewithal to come forward. Notice that she calls her mother in New York… understands and recognizing victims of abuse patterns helps to explain her behaviors in this incident. Furthermore, there were other groping reports on the Lakewood scoop, which may be the same perpetrator.

Dear Fellow Commenters,

Abuse is naturally humiliating and dehumanizing. Sexual abuse can be an emotional experience to recount privately, let alone publicly. Furthermore, denial, downplaying the incident is a huge factor. Additionally, the fear of not being believed is cause for women to keep to herself. You might want to bear this in mind as you attempt to understand the incident.

ive been spat on in my face and pushed by a thug in Brooklyn once, the cops didn’t do much to him, just basically waived their finger at him and told him not to do again.
im trying to understand what the terrible crime of someone trying to grab you, at the end of the day he didn’t hurt you or beat you up, so what exactly do you think will happen to him?? perhaps they will bring him into the police station and let him out the back door. Why is this such major news? is it because its a female? does a female deserve more attention when this happens? isn’t this discrimination against males?

Can someone please post which store this is. I want to make sure not to shop there. I was called a (moterated) Jew once when shopping in a clothing store and I haven’t shopped there in three years. Lakewood doesn’t feel so safe anymore. Sad, because I love this town.

These crimes are taken seriously in NJ. This woman sounds like an innocent and naive shopper….. who clearly doesn’t understand what crime was committed to her. NY shomrim? Why didn’t the mother call the police? Sounds like a naive approach to dealing with this. The fact that this guy did it in a public store and got away with it is quite disturbing.
