PHOTO: Frum resident becomes Lakewood DPW Code Enforcer

The Department of Public Works today announced a new member to its Code Enforcement staff.

Mordechai Holder, a local resident who has been employed at the Lakewood Township Public Works for approximately two years, has recently been promoted to a Code Enforcer.

Mordechai – or as his friends and coworkers like to call him, “Mordy” – has mainly worked in the recycling department, but has also gone above his daily duties and has given recycling presentations to classes in the local schools.

In addition to his new position as a code enforcer, Mordechai will also be spearheading a public relations program. This will better inform the public as well as educate the local residents about upcoming events and regulation changes.

“Our Mission at public works is to better communicate and build a stronger relationship within the community,” says Director Patrick Donnelly. “Should anyone on any level wish to speak directly with our staff, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, or maybe stop in our facility and ask for Mordy!”

    • Then we better do our best to make sure he is not put in position to be moser. We need to be extra careful to make sure & abide to all local codes.

Let’s worry about ourselves and not always be concerned about other peoples potential issues.

      • Right on! Mazel tov to Mordy and I second the motion to avoid any problems of mesirah by making sure there’s nothing to be moser.

    • True. And it will not be long before we see frum police officers in Lakewood , as has happened in Monsey. Of course it will be touted as a great Kiddush Hashem

  1. Right on Mordy!

To the square above me….shame on you for anything less than a congrats to a good person who has been working his way up the ladder….good honest hard work.

Armchair quarterbacks seem to know all the right calls ?

  2. Good Job, MOrdy – Keep on going. Also, Mordy, some guyy posted asbout mesira, plz be advised – Ignore that guy. and any other naysayers. Hatzlocha !!

  3. Way to go Mordy!
Don’t listen to the negative, this is great. Our community can really use someone like you. Someone to help keep this ever expanding town clean and neat. To help us better understand how to properly recycle. Thank you for what you’re doing! G-d bless!

  4. As a coworker of Mordy I can attest to the fact that he fits this position perfectly. He has a heart of gold and is very friendly. He will do an amazing job. Also his job is to be the “community liason to public works” and code enforcementwhich go hand in hand. He doesn’t specifically go around giving out tickets. He goes to the problem areas and let’s people know how to recycle and trash properly. Only after the original explaining and than a warning do u get a ticket. That’s not called being a rat. That’s call giving you a wake up call to follow local laws in this town. Just recycle and trash properly and you will have no issues. With that being said, I’d u see mordy or any other public works employee, tell them thank you, it goes a long way. Good luck mordy

  5. i know mordy –and as a frum yid he did the right thing—he asked a shaila of his rav as to how best to do his job well and how to best follow halacha in every way—-he doesnt need mussar—he needs mazel tovs and other well wishes from us——save your mussar for those who need it

  6. Mazal Tov Mordy on your well deserved promotion! Much Hatzlacha & Bracha! From all your friends at BRK school on Monmouth. Thank you for your great & professional service!!!

  7. Years ago Rav (moderated) paskined that it’s not mesirah to call lpw regarding a neighbor that disregards his neighborhood because they will warn him and it’s up to him to respect his neighbors….
