As first reported on our news alerts, a Frum-owned grocery store in Lakewood was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday evening.
Shortly before 8 PM, a man wearing a sweatshirt, and bandana covering his face pulled a gun at the cashier in the Cedarbridge Marketplace on Cedarbridge Avenue and demanded cash, police say.
The cashier complied and handed over the cash, and the suspect fled.
“He ran across the street into the forest,” a witness told TLS.
A nearby proprietor tells TLS he’s a bit unnerved about the incident.
“This is getting out of hand,” Joe (Yosef) M. says.
Just last month, another nearby shop on Cedarbridge Avenue was robbed in the same manner. It’s unknown if the incidents are related.
Lakewood’s Detective Bureau and CSI are investigating.

A little FYI if you own a business you are allowed to carry a gun at your place of business without getting a carry permit. NJ law recognizes your business the same as your home
I’m not usually one to complain and point fingers but there OBVIOUSLY is not enough being done. Apparently they see that it is possible to break into houses and rob stores with practically 100% chance of getting away.
Hmm, I cud use some extra cash…perhaps I am in the wrong business…
This is why people need to train and arm themselves. Gun ownership needs to start picking up…and I’m not an NRA fan necessarily. I believe in the ability to protect yourself! Oh…and don’t get a gun if you don’t know how to use it!
I do believe everybody who can learn to properly handler a firearm should have one. At the same time, in a hold up where there is only a request for money just give them what they want and let them go. No amount of money is worth escalating a situation especially when there are people around inside the store.
That said, if people could obtain concealed carry permits in NJ it would be a HUGE deterrent to crime as criminals would know the guy they try to assault, may turn them into the victim.
States where citizens can protect themselves have a much lower rate of crime, and the direct impact is proven regardless of what some politician will try to tell you

I don’t think getting guns is the answer! If cashier would have pulled out a gun somebody would have shoot but the robber might have been quicker! Is any amount of money worth your life?
How many children get killed each year in America because they found a gun(usually their parent’s or neighbour’s)?

Hey #7 That’s a very gtood and valid question. The answer is though, That very few children get killed each year in America from gun accidents and that’s with about 40% of U.S households owning guns.
It just doesn’t make headlines when kids die from swimming accidents or chocking on balloons.

Chevra time to arm up. It’s our second amendment right and it is just a matter of hishtadlus. Once the word gets out that our stores are protected the perps will seek out their money elsewhere for easier pickings.

I have rarely ever heard of anyone protecting themselves with a gun once a robber enters his store. At best, they protect during a terrorist mass murder by killing the terrorist before causing more harm.
It’s actually more likely the robber will shoot if he sees the store owner has a gun. Causing less protection. The best protection is to give him the money. Let the cops chase him later…
