Every professional hopes to make a difference in their field of work. What is unique about the nursing profession is that just by providing a job well done, a nurse makes a difference to their patient, the healthcare field, and beyond.
Nurses make a difference to healthcare by promoting health, preventing disease and helping patients cope with illness. They have a unique scope of practice, and collaborate with all members of the health care team by providing the care needed to each patient as an individual. Nurses are hands-on professionals who provide focused and highly personalized care. Nurses also serve as advocates for patients, families and communities. They develop and manage nursing care plans, instruct patients and their families in proper care and help individuals and groups take steps to improve or maintain their health. Nurses work on the front line of patient care and are the eyes and ears of the medical team. They are teachers, care coordinators and advocates whose clinical judgment helps steer the course of patients’ medical care.
In the record breaking growing community of Lakewood, there are endless ways that frum nurses specifically, make a difference to our unique society. The over eighty private schools in our town are staffed with frum nurses who are not only competent in nursing skills, but also understand and can relate to the mentality of a frum child. The majority of local physicians offices, including pediatrics, internal medicine, and many specialists have a staff consisting of many frum nurses. In addition, many of the local and surrounding hospitals have a number of frum nurses on staff, thereby enabling hospitalized Lakewood patients and their families professional assistance in navigating the overwhelming situation of hospitalization. Private duty homecare nursing is provided by our nurses, to care for the tiniest preemie coming home from the hospital, to the elderly homebound patient, and all ages and stages in between.
Aside from making a difference on an occupational level, many frum nurses utilize their skills to help others in a complete selfless manner-in the volunteer capacity. Countless number of women have been helped by local nurses who have offered their services at no charge, to provide fertility injections, and other treatments requiring professional assistance. Wound care, diabetic care and other services have also been provided with the upmost skill and sensitivity.
Therefore, Frum Nurses Network (FNN) presents their gala Melava Malkka event; “Making a Difference”. Motzei Shabbos, December 21st, will be a time for nurses to be recognized for the difference they make in the lives of others. The frum nurses of the Lakewood community will have the opportunity to relax in an atmosphere of camaraderie, growth and fun. Featured at the event will be a sponsored, hot buffet style melava malka, a phenomenal guest speaker (traveling from out of town special for the event), an exciting grab bag game, many freebies, and much, much more.
FNN would like to take this opportunity to thank the generous sponsors of the event. Bayada Home Care has been there from the beginning, and does a lot for the Lakewood community. Star Pediatrics (special thanks to RH!) has helped many children in the community, in addition to many of our own nurses! Thank you to Towne Nursing for your generous support!

Thank you so much to the amazing skilled and devoted frum nurses of the Lakewood community. People don’t realize how much they contribute to our town. The chessed, in addition to their jobs that they do is truly amazing. Mi k’amcha yisroel!
It’s such a great way to network, and is always so much fun. Can’t wait!
FRUM GIRLS SHOULD NOT BE NURSES FACT…………..SPOKE WITH MANY GEDOLEM ABOUT THIS
What you nurses do is far more important than anything #4 LAKEWOOD DR has done , or will ever do. Disregard his sad, ignorant and unsolicited response. It’s hard to find anyone in this world more important and hard working, yet under appreciated than a nurse. THAT is a fact and I spoke to no one about it.
Thank you nurses! All nurses, frum or not.
Nursing is an awesome profession for a frum woman. I spoke to many gedolim about it and they all encouraged it. You can get paid to do a mitzvah!!
Lakewood Dr. – you are so silly. I think you just wrote that to get a rise out of everyone. If Chas V’shalom a family member of yours needed care, who would you prefer to have taking care of your loved one.
In closing, most people spell the word Gedolim – with an I.
Wishing you well.
in this world there are always people who want to make trouble in this case its poster #4.
my mother always told me if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it. #4 you should learn from this quote to keep your mouth shut unless you have something good to say.
You can get paid to do a mitzvah!!
Really?
It always bothers me when I hear professionals who make a lot more money then I am capable of earning talking about what a great Mitzvah they are doing.
Nurses do not make alot of money
The reason why some nurses “make a lot of money” is because they have a lot of education…which was not easy to obtain. If you would like to make a better living, make the investment in yourself and go to school!
To number 9. I am sorry you feel the way you do. As I professional, I can attest that many schools and institutions cater to the needs of the orthodox community. I never had a problem with holidays or with Shabbos. If you are feeling you need to make more money look into different areas that interest you instead of whining. It would be a lot more beneficial that complaining.
As a nurse with a typical rn job i would say that my friends who are occupational therpaists, speech therapists, special ed ppl etc make same money or more then nurses. I heard bus drivers who need very little education make 30 $ an hr. Lets just say im not making more then that. I work 40-50 hrs a week and still struggle to make ends meet. It is easier said then done to find a better paying job. And there is alot of antisemitism in local hospitals. I have heard inside info that thy dont like frum nurses for shabos reasons and maternity reasons… So everyone appreciate ur frum nurses and dont take them granted! And theyre not rolling in dough!
It’s amazing that there are so many frum nurses in Lakewood. But I guess it makes sense. All the frum schools have frum nurses, doctors offices, and even the hospitals around here seem to have a couple of frum nurses. And the nursing homes, too. it’s just amazing
