  1. if bikers are going to ride on the sidewalk (very understandable in this city as we have many youngsters riding bikes, and also in many parts of the city it is simply impossible to ride in the shoulder, or lack thereof), they ought to use extra caution and be alert when crossing intersections, even though they legally may have the right of way.

  2. I watched it about 10 times. I do not see how the lucky cyclist looked to see if any cars were coming. I do not believe that the cyclist had a right to assume that he would swiftly cross the road like his comapnion(?) a few seconds earlier.

Reb Motorist, Thank you for not turning quickly.

  3. In the olden days we were taught to walk our bikes over EVERY intersection.
I taught my children this concept (tho there’s no way to know what they do when we’re not around).
I’m constantly pointing out correct biking rules to my kids.
I also verbally praise random children I see who do the correct thing while sharing the streets with vehicles.
