Ocean County Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari (right) was in Lakewood this week for the Arbor Day celebrations. Vicari joined second grade students from the Oak Street School in Lakewood in planting a White Pine, and a Norway Spruce at Ocean County Park, Route 88, in addition to several hundred seedlings as part of Ocean County’s Arbor Day celebration.
More than 1,100 trees were lost at Ocean County Park as a result of Superstorm Sandy. The recent plantings by the pupils and members of the Ocean County Shade Tree Commission helped with the reforestation program that is under way at the park. [TLS]
