Freeholder Little: A Salute to our Brave Men & Women

matlosz sign on august driveAs we enter 2015 I would like to salute all of our brave men and women in the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, the Department of Corrections and all of our local police departments.

Our communities are among the safest in the nation in part because of these outstanding law enforcement professionals who put their lives on the line to defend our families.

While some choose to criticize and disparage police officers, I believe it is important to remember that that these gallant men and women unselfishly step into harm’s way so our neighborhoods can be safe. Each and every time they answer a call or stop a vehicle, they could be faced with an instantaneous life-or-death decision.

January also marks the fourth anniversary of the murder of Lakewood Patrolman Chris Matlosz, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on January 14, 2011.

Our prayers are with Officer Matlosz’s family, as well as the families of the two slain New York City officers and with all of those who have lost a loved one in the line of duty.

For all those who protect and serve our communities, know that your service does not go unrecognized.
