A former Lakewood Police Officer was laid to rest yesterday. Jesse J. Williscroft, 71, badge #143, passed away December 23. Mr. Williscroft was born and raised in Jersey City, moving to Old Bridge for a brief period, then Lakewood for most of his life before settling in Toms River for the past two and a half years. He served in the United States Marie Corps and in the Lakewood Police Department until approximately 30 years ago.
He also worked for many years as a private eye and as a credit representative for Clayton Concrete in Lakewood.
Mr. Williscroft served as the State Delegate for the PBA Local 71 for many years. He was a member of the VFW, Moose, AMVets and the Elks of the Jersey Shore and Pennsylvania.
The family says Jesse was an avid NASCAR fan, hunter and car enthusiast. Jesse was a jokester known for his sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Williscroft is predeceased by his parents Jesse Sr. and Doris, sister, Joyce Console and niece, Denise Williscroft. Jesse is survived by his wife of 50 years Linda, daughters, Lea Meyer and her husband Robert Sr. and Melissa Zwick and her husband Michael, grandchildren, Lauren, Robbie, Kaitlyn, Allison and Madison, siblings, Daniel Williscroft, Edward Williscroft, Sharon Holly, Glenn Williscroft, and Kim Manno and many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends and his beloved dogs Nicki and Amber.
The funeral was held yesterday in Lakewood, and the internment was held in Jackson.
