PHOTO: The State’s Forest Fire trucks and an airplane are being used to extinguish a large brush fire in the Ocean County Park this afternoon.
The fire was reported about 5 PM several hundred feet off the park’s main road – which has been shut as firefighters attempt to bring the approximately one acre fire under control.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service today urged the public to exercise extra caution when outdoors, as forest fire levels remain at high. The warm weather is contributing to the high level, officials said. [TLS]
Its going to be a busy season..so please be careful where you throw your cigarrettes and cigars…when you are done with them..and make sure they are OUT
Just drove by middle school. Lots of smoke on ridge.
Thought it was from tent city. No jokes!
Lakewood Fire Department was there also with their brush truck.
shut down OCP! the smoke from the brush fires burn my lungs and make breathing difficult and its dangerous for my wife and children to walk around with the smoke because someone could be hiding in there waiting to steal her sheindel
How can you suggest to close to a county park? Why? to build more homes???? Soon Lakewood is just going to be called Lake because there’s almost no woods left!
I’m so glad that this historical park is owned by the county and not the township.
Good job guys for putting out the fire and keeping everyone safe!
Hey #6 what will you call the town when they drain the lake and build condos there? Just asking
#6- Just showing how the same complaints from Tent City can be applied to the OCP fires as well.
#7… good question! but I may be better off not answering that one : )
