A flood watch issued by the National Weather Service early this morning in North Jersey has been expanded to include Ocean County and western Monmouth County. Light rain is expected to be falling across the entire Shore area by the early afternoon. The flood watch is in effect from 4 p.m. today through Tuesday morning. With the water level in streams and rivers already high, and the ground saturated, stream and small river flooding is possible, a weather service advisory says. Those in southern and central New Jersey could also hear some thunder this afternoon. An inch to an inch-and-a-half of rain is expected in most areas, with up to two inches possible in spots where thunderstorms hit.
Today’s temperatures are expected to reach into the low 60s, according to the weather service.
The rain is expected to be heavy at times into the evening, with winds gusting at 15-20 mph before tapering off after midnight. Temperatures tonight should be in the mid 40s.
Tuesday should be mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and temperatures in the mid 50s. APP
