Three Lakewood residents – all with outstanding warrants – were arrested after their vehicle got a flat tire, and they chose to replace it with a stolen one.
At about 3:15 AM today, Brick Officers responded to the area of Regent Court in the Lions Head North development for a report of a possible vehicle burglary.
A short time after the Officers were dispatched to the initial location, Officer Mark Catalina encountered three individuals changing a tire at 116 Brick Blvd (WaWa). Further investigation revealed that these subjects were involved in a theft from a vehicle on Regent Court.
It appears that the suspects were operating a 2001 Hyundai Sonata that developed a flat tire in the area of the WaWa. It was at this point that two of the subjects walked into the Lions Head North community where they began searching for a vehicle similar to theirs so they could obtain a tire, police said. When they located a similar vehicle to theirs, they entered the trunk of the vehicle and removed the spare tire. They then returned to their vehicle and were installing the tire when they were encountered by Officers.
The two suspects that entered the vehicle and stole the tire are identified as Jasheir Powell and Quadirah Booker both from Lakewood. They were both charged with Burglary and theft. Powell also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Howell for $100 and Booker had an outstanding warrant for $500 from Brick.
The third subject that waited with the vehicle at WaWa was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Wall Township for $500 and is identified as Toraya Evans from Lakewood.
